Revelation 4

As this chapter unfolds we see the throne of God, in all His resplendence. John is transfixed by that figure but sees much more going on around Him. There are people and creatures surrounding and worshipping the Father's throne. The scene is awesome! Every creature on heaven and on earth are worshipping the king. The very centre of this scene, and its primary focus, is God.

How much of our view of the world has God at the centre? Our lives can often replace God with other things at the centre of our focus. If God is not at the centre our lives are at danger of collapsing.

One of the interesting things about this scene is that God is not the only one on a throne. This shows the restoration of humanities original destiny to rule alongside God. Before the fall we were made in His image to rule with Him, and sin ruined that. But with the New Creation will come a throne for us all where we will rule creation alongside our creator.

When we worship, we are joining with what is happening in creation. We are worshipping our creator alongside the angels and creatures of heaven and earth.
